We have a 1,000 square-foot kitchen in the basement at Crema…and we love to use it!!!
At Crema we make just about everything we serve from scratch, using fresh ingredients each day. Our kitchen downstairs is buzzing almost 24 hours a day, humming with activity to prepare all of our baked goods, quiche, soups, salads, fresh juices, and sandwich ingredients (and soon, all of our bread!). We make everything in small batches to ensure quality and freshness. We incorporate seasonal ingredients whenever possible, and we’re always experimenting to find the next best Crema goodie!
Kevin Williams is our head baker and came to Crema with years of experience in both breads and pastries (he was previously at Au Soleil, Sel de la Terre, The Elephant Walk, Blue Ginger, Rosie’s & Carberry’s). Now that Kevin and his staff have got the croissant production, morning pastries and dessert schedule in a steady routine, they’re on to another challenge – bread! New ovens are in, and with them comes a new addition to the Crema kitchen repertoire. We hope that baking our own bread will help us to further distinguish ourselves as an independent bakery with a wide range of offerings. Homemade bread will give our sandwiches another unique, fresh twist that you’ll only be able to get at Crema!

Crema Cafe has won Best Coffeehouse in Boston Magazine’s Best of Boston 2009!
COFFEEHOUSE: Crema Café
27 Brattle St., Cambridge, 617-876-2700
By virtue of its excellence-obsessed baristas and premium roasters (Terroir, Barismo), our city is pouring itself a righteous coffee reputation that gives new meaning to the nickname “Beantown.” Coffee nerds adore the top-quality espresso drinks pulled at the tiny Taste Coffee House (Newtonville) and the crowded Simon’s Coffee Shop (Cambridge); however, only Harvard Square java den Crema has the full-service offerings impressive enough to take this year’s title. To wit: stellar brew (they serve French press!), abundant seating inside and out, made-from-scratch food, and an inspiring independent spirit.

We are exploring the possibility of obtaining a beer and wine license at Crema!
We do not plan on changing the style of operation or cafe menu during the day. With the beer and wine license our intention is to stay open later at night and operate as a wine and tapas bar, in addition to a cafe.
We love Crema as it is now, and would not want to change the character or atmosphere of the café with this additional evening operation. We hope you will support us in our efforts!

George Howell & Terroir Coffees
George Howell Coffee Company (GHCC) is located in Acton, MA, where former owner of the Coffee Connection, George Howell roasts top quality coffee. George is a world-renowned authority on quality coffee. He opened the first Coffee Connection in 1974 and had a loyal following of those who truly enjoy good coffee and espresso. After selling the Coffee Connection to Starbucks in the early 1990s George co-founded the Cup of Excellence, which is a program designed to help break the commodity/price cycle in the specialty coffee industry. Several years after that, George started roasting again, and developed the Terroir line of single-origin light roasted coffees. You can always find one of these single-origin coffees being brewed in Crema, along with our House Vienna Roast from the GHH Select line. In addition, you can find a broad selection of whole bean Terroir and GHH Select coffees sold at the cafe.
